Bring History to School Day

Teacher's "To Bring" List

For 70 students

This list will allow them to cook lunch over the fire--which is what we usually do-- you will need the following:

6 lbs pinto beans soaked overnight
salt pork (optional for beans)
1 apple (preferably green or firm, tart) per student
15 lbs potatoes
5 lbs onions
1 lb pancake or biscuit mix (like Bisquick)
1-2 cups sugar or honey
beef jerky (2 pieces/student)(we've found the cheapest way to buy it is at Sam's Club)
herb tea (loose or in bags) so we can boil it for students to soak their hard tack in (which we will furnish)
cornbread mix, eggs, for students to make enough cornbread over fire for everyone to have a bite
1/2 chord fire wood
plates (used pie plates work great and look more authentic) cups, silverware
